Unfortunately, #bestpicture took away front page spot of the Oscars 2017. But, hey, don’t miss out the fabulous dresses on the red carpet! How exciting it is to judge the good and bad tastes, to go over the dresses got us jealous or got us bitching about?
Spectacular gown from Givenchy Haute Couture! Absolutely high-end and sophisticated. With the figure-flattering tailor, the golden color which works so well with crimson, the delicate bronze Swarovski crystals embroidery and the cream-to-bronze dégradé crystal fringe hem that brings the dress motion, it is a well-deserved best actress dress.
The camisole neckline design of the top makes the dress looks clear and bracing. The use of jewelry is to the point. It is very clever of her stylist to not adding a necklace, making this ensemble balanced while leaving all to drama to the layered fringes. You can image how beautiful it looks as she dances as she was in LaLaLand.
The best part of this dress is, unlike other sumptuous-looking gowns, it seems so effortless to wear on. There is no do-over sexy and try-too-hard design.
Isn’t this picture reminding you of the extravagant scenes from the Great Gatsby? The never-ending party, champagne, bloody red, dance floor with dazzling light, the crazy band, the screaming, the smell of money and the taste of vanity. A glittering dress in which you can move easily, dance beautifully is just perfect.
Emma Stone has been keeping this retro style from the movie scenes to the red carpet season. Her most seen hairstyle is the classic Hollywood waves (Emma Stone’s hairstyle File and beauty look). Perhaps another vintage fan besides Taylor Swift?
It is certainly not innovative or groundbreaking. But apart from this, it suits the red carpet and brings out the vibe of an elegant, mature Hollywood star.
So… anyone still recognizes this outrageous girl?
Don’t know if they want to avoid the split dresses, Olivia Culpo and Emma Stone both wear the same style of dress.
The black skinny belt is a takeaway. Together with the layered hem, it extends the bottom and makes the overall look proportional.
Speaking of proportional, Sofia Boutella is so losing it.
This dress makes her arms looks so strong and so long that I start to wonder, where are those missing legs?
Taraji P. Henson
Timeless! The custom Alberta Ferretti gown is one of the best dresses of the night. The thigh-high slit, v-neck, and off-shoulder are nothing new. But the royal blue velvet and the 103 carats of diamonds necklace from Nirav Modi light up everything. Taraji P. Henson looks sultry yet fierce in this ensemble.
This dress wouldn’t be as nice as this if it were just a simple black dress instead of royal blue velvet. The shape of her jewelry is seamlessly matching up with the neckline.

To shine on the red carpet doesn’t mean you have to make a big change and take a bizarre fashion risk. Smart women always win big with small adjustments. For example, attentive to the detail like a classy handbag and an emerald-green colored ring.

Fabulous! This beautiful, romantic, dreamy dress from Ralph & Russo Couture has my heart at the first look. It is blended with sweet, sexy and tough: the girlish floral appliques, the see-through pink sheer, and the halter-style ruffled neckline and long flowing train.
Six years ago when she first attended Oscars for her role in True Grit opposite Jeff Bridges, Hailee Steinfeld was just 14 years old. This dress presents an ideal transition from a young girl to a grown woman (though the lack of lining is too revealing to be graceful).
The takeaway of this frock is definitely the chiffon straight ruffle collar and its variation. This design is on trend from the fashion week to the Grammy red carpet.
Refreshing! Raf Simons’s First Red Carpet Look for Calvin Klein makes Naomie Harris looks youthful and brisk. The below-the-knee length dress leads our eyes to her very special mismatched shoes.
The sunflower yellow sandals adorned with jewels complete the clean-cut sequined white dress. Simplicity is never dated.
“I just like to wear clothes that are reflective of my personality,” says Harris. “I know who I am, what works on my body, and what makes me feel good.”
Breathtaking! Coming next to the simplicity dress: an amazing elaborate gown. Janelle Monáe is looking gorgeous in this fairy-tale dress by Elie Saab Couture. With the embellished diamonds shining, she really is the queen of elves.
Stunning! Priyanka Chopra remains her hot girl style; but unlike her previous dresses, this gown from Ralph & Russo is much clear and modern. She is killing it with a very special geometric cut on the front.
Mixed feeling. The golden silk gown by Gucci, a combination of two trends on Oscars (gold and straight ruffle collar), makes an impressive weird dress on Oscars.
I totally agree with the criticism of her hair. The dress already looks too comfortable as a red carpet gown. This slouchy hairstyle makes her look… something in between tender, harmless and drowsy. To put it nicely, Dakota Johnson might wear a princess’s nightgown.
Nevertheless, the jewelry is a nice touch.
